The 29th escort formation officially took over the 28th escort mission in the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters.

　　This joint escort drill was jointly carried out by Yancheng Ship, the 28th escort formation of the Navy, Binzhou Ship and Xuzhou Ship, the 29th escort formation. The integrated supply ship Qiandaohu Ship was used to simulate the protected merchant ship, and the whole escort was organized and implemented by accompanying escort. During the period, the two escort formations took turns to take charge of the organization and command of the escort operation. Through the whole process and all-factor joint escort, the 29th escort formation became familiar with the organizational procedures, special handling and force use of the escort operation, laying a solid foundation for the implementation of the escort mission.

　　At 10 o’clock on the morning of May 1, after the joint escort was completed, two escort formations held a handover ceremony of escort mission on the Yancheng ship. At the ceremony, the formation commanders of the two sides signed the task handover book respectively, and each group handed over their counterparts. The twenty-eighth escort formation command post also gave a detailed introduction to the twenty-ninth escort formation on the hydrometeorological characteristics of the mission area, the law of piracy activities, the identification of suspicious targets and the current situation in the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters, and handed over relevant materials and equipment. The 29th escort formation formally replaced the 28th escort formation to undertake the escort mission in the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters.
